                    

► The Fox one day thought of a plan to amuse himself at the expense of the Stork, at whose odd appearance he was always laughing.

【4】 “Möa lyen tulë ar matë onyë síra,” eques i Tópocánon, lan fellë reo insessë pá i fintalë ya tyalúvanes.

                     

► "You must come and dine with me today," he said to the Stork, smiling to himself at the trick he was going to play.

¶ I Tópocáno alasseävë þáquentë i naþyalië, an ananyë ?? ?? ?? ar maimaita.

              

► The Stork gladly accepted the invitation and arrived in good time and with a very good appetite.

【5】 Þinyematenna, i Rusco sornë sulpa.

      

► For dinner the Fox served soup.

¶ Mal ?? nánë ?? ?? mi analanúra palda, ar i Tópocáno rië pollë tumba i mentë memyo.

                  

► But it was set out in a very shallow dish, and all the Stork could do was to wet the very tip of his bill.

¶ Únes ecë sen ñetë limba min i sulpo.

        

► Not a drop of soup could he get.

¶ Mal i Rusco suncë sa aþcarë, ar, itan yanta horwarë i Tópocáno, carnë höa ettanië alasseo.

                   

► But the Fox lapped it up easily, and, to increase the disappointment of the Stork, made a great show of enjoyment.

【6】 I maita Tópocáno nánë anaruxa i fintalen, mal nánes calaina, past' indo ?? ar cennes ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? aha.

                       

► The hungry Stork was much displeased at the trick, but he was a calm, even-tempered fellow and saw no good in flying into a rage.

¶ Minomë, ú anda cato, naþyalles i Rusco matë ósë hilistas.

            

► Instead, not long afterward, he invited the Fox to dine with him in turn.

¶ I Rusco tullë poicavë yá lúpanina, ar i Tópocáno sornë lingwë ahtumat ya sámë ammaityavaitë nus.

                 

► The Fox arrived promptly at the time that had been set, and the Stork served a fish dinner that had a very appetizing smell.

¶ Mal nánes mi halla unco ó annáha lango.

        

► But it was served in a tall jar with a very narrow neck.

¶ I Tópocáno aþcarë pollë anya i matta anda memyanen, mal i Rusco aqua rië pollë lavë i uncuva etsë, ar nusta i maityavaitë olmë.

                          

► The Stork could easily get at the food with his long bill, but all the Fox could do was to lick the outside of the jar, and sniff at the delicious odor.

¶ Ar yá i Rusco olanë ruxa, equë i Tópocáno calaina:

           

► And when the Fox lost his temper, the Stork said calmly:
